The Runaway Kite and the Stormy Chase

Jonah’s red kite soared high above the park, its tail twisting and looping in the wind. His dog, Buddy, barked happily, watching it dance against the blue sky.

But suddenly—SNAP! The string broke!

Jonah gasped as his kite tumbled and flipped before catching the wind again. It drifted higher and higher, disappearing over the treetops.

"Come on, Buddy!" Jonah yelled, running after it.

The wind picked up, rattling the trees. Dark clouds rolled in. Jonah’s heart pounded. A storm was coming.

They chased the kite through the meadow, past the playground, and into the deep woods. Finally, Jonah spotted it—stuck high in an old oak tree!

He climbed onto a low branch, but it was too far. The wind howled. Rain started to fall.

"I need something longer," he muttered, thinking fast. Then he saw a fallen branch—just the right size!

Jonah stretched up, holding the branch as high as he could. Almost… almost… Got it!

With a happy yell, he pulled the kite free and scrambled down just as BOOM! Thunder rumbled overhead.

Jonah and Buddy ran all the way home, soaking wet but laughing. As they dried off inside, Jonah smiled at his kite, now safely in his hands.

"We did it, Buddy," he said.

And next time, he’d tie the string extra tight.
